In July 2001, the American International School of Zürich (established in 1963) and the International Primary School of Zurich (established in 1969) formally merged to create the Zürich International School (ZIS), the only independent day school in Zürich offering a fully accredited, comprehensive education program spanning Pre-School (age 3) through Grade 12. ZIS offers a rich and varied curriculum which encompasses the Primary Years Program (PYP) and the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Program as well as a standard college-preparatory course of studies with a strong Advanced Placement (AP) emphasis, thus ensuring that ZIS graduates may pursue higher education virtually anywhere in the world.
